Recaraceria Razowski View in CoL , gen. n. ( Figs 36, 80, 117)
Type-species: Argyroploce carceraria Meyrick, 1913 . Annals of the Transvaal Museum 3(4): 276.
Diagnosis. The structure of the valva is somewhat similar to some Lobesia Guenée, 1845 but the ventropostmedian fold is reminiscent of other Olethreutini (e.g. Metendothenia Diakonoff, 1973 , cf. Aarvik 2004). Recaraceria has a ventral cluster of hair and a generalized signa (as in Sorolopha Lower, 1901 or Oxysemaphora Diakonoff, 1973 ) and a submedian ostium bursae.
Etymology. The name is an arbitrary combination of letters using those of the name of the type-species (plus an extra “e”). Gender feminine.
Description. Venation. In forewing R 5 to apex: Cu 2 A opposite 1/3 distance between R 1 -R 2, chorda and median stem absent; in hindwing Rs-M 1 separate, M 2 well separate from M 3 -Cu 1 A which are stalked to 1/3.
Male genitalia ( Razowski & Krüger 2007: fig. 222; Fig. 80). Pedunculus slender, fairly long; uncus small, weakly sclerotized; socii fused with base of uncus; dorsal part of anellus a sclerotized plate; valva broad with atrophied neck and short cucullus; large area of setae beyond dorsal half of basal cavity above a sclerotic collar which terminates at base of cucullus; sacculus with spines or bristles; caulis short; aedeagus simple.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 117). Sterigma not extending beyond median incision of subgenital sternite; ostium bursae submedian; ductus bursae rather short, without sclerites; signa two, plesiomorphic horns.
Biology. Not known.
Distribution. South Africa and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Remark. In addition to the type species, the genus also includes Recaraceria hormoterma ( Meyrick, 1938) , comb. n. ( Meyrick 1938: 10; pl. 1; fig. 8) ( Argyroploce ).
