Material examined. MASSACHUSETTS: Berkshire Co., Lenox, Parsons Marsh , 20.vi.2017, em. 8–10.vii.2017, C.S. Eiseman, ex Ranunculus recurvatus , #CSE3910, CNC939714–939717 View Materials (3³ 1♀) .
Hosts. Ranunculaceae : Clematis L., Ranunculus abortivus L., R. * recurvatus Poir. ( Spencer & Steyskal 1986; Winkler et al. 2009).
Leaf mine. ( Figs. 57, 58 View FIGURES 57–63 ) A blotch adjoining the leaf margin; larva exiting through a slit in the upper epidermis ( Spencer & Steyskal 1986). Each mine on Ranunculus recurvatus began at the tip of a lobe. The newest part of the mine was whitish to pale green, with the earlier portion turning brown. Faint feeding lines were sometimes visible. The sparse, dark brown frass was deposited in fine grains and irregular particles.
Puparium. ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 14–26 ) Dark brown; formed outside the mine.
