The family Myrotheciomycetaceae was introduced by Crous et al. (2018) with four genera, Emericellopsis J. F. H. Beyma , Leucosphaerina Arx , Myrotheciomyces Crous and Trichothecium Link. Bao et al. (2023) exclude Emericellopsis from Myrotheciomycetaceae based on the phylogenetic analysis and showed that the type strain of Myrotheciomyces corymbiae ( CPC 33206 ) is accommodated in Trichothecium s. str. In the present study, the type strain of Myrotheciomyces corymbiae clustered in the Trichothecium clade (Fig. 4 ). Thus, we propose to synonymize Myrotheciomyces with Trichothecium as the latter is the older generic epithet.
