Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Karnataka: North Kanara, Supa Ghats, Kalpa , 3000 ft., 5 May 1894, W.A. Talbot 3127 ( BSI0000000095 !); isolectotypes BSI0000000093!, BSI0000000094!, BSI0000000096!, CAL0000015583!, CAL0000015584!, CAL0000015585!, CAL0000015586!.
Notes:— Eight specimens of collection W.A. Talbot 3127 were traced for the name Eugenia memecylifolia Talbot , four each at BSI ( BSI 0000000093, BSI0000000094, BSI 0000000095 and BSI 0000000096) and CAL ( CAL 0000015583, CAL0000015584, CAL 0000015585 and CAL 0000015586). Of these, the specimen BSI0000000095 ( Figure 2 View FIGURE 2 ) is better preserved and the illustration in the protologue is based on it, therefore designated as the lectotype.
