Type citation in protologue:—“ Wight!cat. n. 1075”.
Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Peninsular India: Without locality, s.d., R. Wight 1075 (E00174629 [digital image!]; isolectotypes BR0000005260584 [digital image!], E00174630 [digital image!], K000821518 [digital image!], MH00002102 !, P05209713 [digital image!]).
Notes:— Wight & Arnott (1834) described Eugenia rottleriana based on the specimens of Wight catalogue number 1075, but no specific herbarium specimen was cited as holotype. Six specimens belonging to Wight catalogue number 1075 were traced for the name E. rottleriana Wight & Arn. , two at E (E00174629 and E00174630) and one each at BR ( BR 0000005260584), K (K000821518), MH ( MH 00002102) and P (P05209713). Among these, the specimen E00174629 is well preserved, has mature leaves, well developed flowers and therefore selected here as the lectotype.
