Ogdoecosta obliterata ( Champion 1893) View in CoL
( Figs 15 View FIGURE 15 A–G; 16 A–D)
Chelymorpha obliterata Champion 1893:159
Male. Length 10–11.4 mm, width 7–8 mm (n=2). Fulvous.
HEAD. Surface black, rugose; supraorbital area with scattered long setae and coarse punctures. Prosternum rugose, glabrous. Genal surface with scattered long setae and folds in hind part. Interocular width 2 times diameter of eyes. Antennae reaching base of pronotum; antenomere III longer than IV, antenomere I shorter than XI. Clypeus sub-trapezoidal in shape, over 2 times wider than long; surface with large punctures and scattered setae. Labrum 2–3 times wider than long; surface smooth.
THORAX. Pronotum 2 times wider than long, surface pubescent, black, with an amber spot on each side; anterior margin emarginated, margination V-shaped; hind angles sharp and produced behind with fine punctures; explanate margin with coarse punctures; pronotal disc with glabrous longitudinal groove and two large spots. Scutellum triangular, surface smooth, black. Elytral surface glabrous, black; two or five spots in each elytron, one near base, one near to elytral margin, one near apex; elytral margin black with short setae; punctures coarse; humeri rounded, punctate. Prosternal process pubescent, distinctive grooved, apex rounded. Mesosternal process deeply notched.
ABDOMEN. Ventrites surface rugose, pubescent, brown. Aedeagus length 1.5–2 mm, apex round (Fig. 20 E).
Female. Similar to male; oval shaped. Length 11.6–12.6 mm, width 8–8.7 mm (n=3). Interocular width 2 times diameter of eyes. Clypeus over 2 times wider than long; labrum 2–3 times wider than long. Pronotum 2 times wider than long. Spermatheca partially sclerotized (Fig. 20 E), over 2 times longer than wide; apex acute, without velum; spermathecal duct weakly coiled.
Comparative note. This species is distinguished from O. epilachnoides by its large and coarse punctures in the supraorbital area, its spermatheca partially sclerotized without velum and the abdominal tegument less sclerotized. Ogdoecosta obliterata is distinguished from O. juvenca by its elytra glabrous.
Remarks. The type specimens of O. sagitta and O. obliterata differ only in color and pattern of spots. The specimens of O. obliterata were not dissected, but the external morphological characters match with the specimens of O. sagitta .
