External morphology. Slender species. General color black with yellow markings throughout dorsum; eyes translucent, surface interspersed with dark brown patches; forewings with small yellow spots on veins, dark brown narrow, transverse chevron band distad of middle, large dark brown, irregular shaped marking subapically; face dark brown to black with yellow reticulations (Plate IA). Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin acutely angulate; crown broad, about as wide as width of eyes, produced distally about ½ times as long as entire length, distinctly elevated, lateral margins parallel, slightly carinate, disk deeply depressed medially; pronotum with median length about 1/3 shorter than crown; mesonotum slightly longer than median length of pronotum; forewings elongate, 3 anteapical cells present, outer one closed; clypeus elongate, broad basally, narrow anteriorly; clypellus short, about ¼ as long as clypeus, broad, inflated basally, constricted medially.

Male genitalia. Pygofer narrow with 2 prominent caudal processes, caudodorsal process long, narrow, apex with few setae, caudoventral process long, broadly curved dorsally ( Fig. 1); right subgenital plate long, slightly robust, glabrous except for several small setae distally on outer lateral margin ( Fig. 2); right style very small ( Figs. 3, 4); aedeagus long, tubular, slightly sinuate, slightly inflated subbasally in dorsal view, apex enlarged, with small, recurved digitate spine, gonopore apical ( Figs. 5, 6); connective small, Y-shaped, membrane absent, stem short ( Fig. 7); dorsal connective long, narrow, without bifurcation, attached basally to base of aedeagal socle ( Fig. 5).

Material examined. Holotype male. COLOMBIA: Amazonas , PNN Amacayacu San Martin, 3º23’S.– 70º 6’W., 150 m., Malaise, 1/30/01-2/7/01, B. Amado, leg., M2037 ( IAHC). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The name is descriptive for the recurved spine on the apex of the aedeagus.

Remarks. This species is nearest to D. variegata (Germar) and can be separated by recurved spine on the apex of the aedeagus ( Figs. 5, 6) and by the configuration of the subgenital plate which inner lateral margin is very straight ( Fig. 2)
