Dialodia aviculobata View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Plate 4A, Figs. 202–209)
Length. Male 7.50–7.70 mm; female unknown.
External morphology. Medium size, robust species. General color black with yellow markings; forewings with veins in claval area yellow, cells translucent; crown with lateral margins bordered by yellow stripe; face black, yellow markings vary from median longitudinal stripe on clypeus and clypellus to individual spots between them ( Plate 4A). Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin broadly rounded; crown about as wide as width of eyes; slightly produced anteriorly, lateral margins convergent basally, disk depressed on each side of middle; eyes large, semiglobular; pronotum large, about half longer than crown; surface bullated; mesonotum large, about 1/3 longer than pronotum; forewings typical; clypeus long, broad, lateral margins tapered basally; clypellus short, about 1/3 as long as clypeus, inflated mediobasally, apex flared.
Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view subquadrate, small lobe on caudodorsal maragin, few setae apically ( Fig. 202); right subgenital plate long, narrow, setaceous in distal third ( Fig. 203); style in lateral view broadly curved, constricted medially, distal third aviculiform ( Fig. 204), in dorsal view slightly broad and straight throughout ( Fig. 205); aedeagus long, sinuate, somewhat tubular, with few short setae submedially, gonopore cryptic ( Figs. 206, 207); connective Y-shaped, membranous medially, stem long ( Fig. 208); dorsal connective long, strap shape, attached to base of aedeagal socle, apex inflated ( Fig. 201, 206).
Material examined. Holotype male. COLOMBIA: Huila, PNN Cueva de los Guacharos , Alto el Mirador, 1º38’N.– 76º6’W., 1980 m., Malaise, 3/7/02–3/21/02, J. Fonseca leg., M.3079 ( IAHC) GoogleMaps . Paratypes. 2 males, same data as holotype except PNN Gorgona Alto de Mirador , 1º38’N.– 76º6’W., 1980 m., Malaise 2/4/02–2/18/02, C. Cortes, leg., M.3038 ( MLBM, UK) GoogleMaps .
Etymology. The name is descriptive for the bird-like head shape on the apex of the style in lateral view.
Remarks. From D. brevisetae , sp. nov. to which it is most similar, D. aviculobata can be separated by the broad pygofer, slender subgenital plate and configuration of the apical third of the aedeagus.
