Notes:— The specimen of Tovomita speciosa analyzed by Adolpho Ducke had open flowers and buds in pre-anthesis, and as in Tovomita clusiiflora , the pair of external sepals seems smaller than the internal ones, leaving the internal sepals and petals exposed, which could have been erroneously interpreted as having incompletely covered buds. Moreover, the absence (or inconspicuousness) of prop roots at the base of the trunk is common in some Amazonian species of Tovomita , such as T. caloneura A.C. Smith (1939: 197) and T. volkeri L. Marinho (2016: 1129) , and such characters should not be used to recognize Tovomitidium as distinct from Tovomita .
