Material examined. Kenya, 1 female Naivasha, Rift Valley province , altitude 1712 m, May 3, 2006 ; 2 females, Mt. Elgon National Park , Bamboo zone, Western Province, altitude 2630 m, March 2005 ; 4 females, Mfangano Island , altitude 1400 m ; 1 female, Rusinga Island , altitude 1370 m, July 10, 2006 ; 1 female Ndere Island , Nyanza province, 1288 m, December 11, 2006 (El-Banhawy).

Female: Dorsal shield reticulated, 280 long, 145 wide. Measurements of dorsal setae: j1 12, j3 25, j4 23, j5 25, j6 35, J2 42, J5 9, z2 22, z3 27, z4 30, z5 22, Z4 46, Z5 58, s4 35, s6 41, S2 44, S4 39, S5 21, r3, R1 28, JV5 42. Setae Z 4, Z5 serrated, remaining setae smooth. Peritrematal shield fused anteriorly with dorsal shield, reaching level of j1. Sternal shield, distances between St I-St III 65 , St II-St II 46 , St IV on platelets. Genital shield 53 wide. Ventri-anal shield 92 long, 52 wide (L/W ratio 1.7: 1), with a pair of round pre-anal pores and four pairs of pre-anal setae (JV1, JV2, JV3, ZV2). Two pairs of metapodal platelets, two pairs of sigillar sclerites and four pairs of setae surrounding ventri-anal shield. Fixed digit of chelicera with three teeth, movable digit with two teeth. Spermatheca calyx broad tube, 14 long, 7 wide, slightly flared distally, atrium incorporated in the calyx, 5 long. Macroseta blunt, St IV 35 . Chaetotaxy : genu II 2 , 2 / 0, 2/1, 1, genu III 1 , 2 /1, 2/0, 1.

Remarks. The female holotype was collected from Witbank, Transvaal, March 28, 1964 ( Van der Merwe, 1968), and a male paratype was collected fromGuateng, Pretoria, South Africa, November 10, 1985 ( Ueckermann & Loots, 1988). This species has also been recorded from Cape Verde, Lesotho, Yemen and Zimbabwe ( Ueckermann & Loots, 1992; El-Banhawy, 2002).
