Euphthiracarus (Parapocsia) Niedbała subgen. nov.
Diagnosis. Bothridial squamae situated below the bothridia; prodorsum without median carina; two pairs of lateral carinae present; posterior median apodeme present; rostral setae arising far posteriorly between lamellar and interlamellar setae. Notogaster with 14 pairs of setae and with terminal fissure; openings of lateral opisthonotal glands and five pairs of lyrifissures (ia, im, ip, ips, ih) present. Ventral region with anterior and posterior interlocking triangles, anogenital cleft absent. Genitoaggenital plates with nine pairs of genital setae and two pairs of aggenital setae. Anoadanal plates with three pairs well developed anal and three pairs of adanal setae. Lyrifissures iad located between setae ad 3 and an 3. Legs heterotridactylous.
Comparison. This subgenus has intermediate position between subgenera Euphthiracarus Ewing, 1917 and Pocsia Mahunka, 1983 . Anogenital cleft between genitoaggenital and anoadanal plates is absent as in Euphthiracarus , but rostral setae are arising far posteriorly between lamellar and interlamellar setae as in Pocsia . Etymology. The prefix para is Latin meaning “near” and refers to the resemblance of the new subgenus to species of subgenus Pocsia .
