Euphthiracarus (Euphthiracarus) quasitakahashii Niedbała View in CoL sp. nov.
( Fig. 1A–F View FIGURE 1 A – F )
Description. Measurements of holotype. Prodorsum: length 303, width 207, height 121. Prodorsal setae: sensillus 68, in 215, le 149, ro 142, ex 68. Notogaster: length 555, width 394, height 404. Notogastral setae: c 1, c 2, h 1 177, c 3, p 1 152, d 1 126, d 2 81, h 3 114. Plates: genitoaggenital 192 × 65, anoadanal 273 × 45.
Integument. Colour dark brown. Integument very finely pitted.
Prodorsum with two almost parallel, long lateral carinae relatively far from one another, dorsal carinae stronger and longer than ventral. Sensilli short, with dilated head, similar to aspergillum, covered with small spines. Prodorsal setae long, erect. Interlamellar and lamellar setae attenuate, covered with some spines in distal half. Rostral setae flexible, smooth. Exobothridial setae relatively long, smooth.
Notogaster with long setae (c 1/ c 1– d 1=1.3) covered with some cilia in distal half. Notogastral setae of row c flexible, other setae stiff, only setae d 1 and ventral setae (except cp setae) shorter than dorsal setae, setae c 1-3 remote from anterior margin, setae c 1 more than setae c 2 and c 3.
Ventral region with nine pairs of genital setae, diminishing towards anterior part of plates, four posterior very long and thick, anterior minute. Formula of setae: 6:3. Two pairs of aggenital setae, ag 2 thicker and three times longer than ag 1; three pairs of anal and three pairs of adanal setae present, adanal setae and an 3 similar in length, rough, setae an 1 and an 2 longer, flexible and smooth.
Legs heterotridactylous. Chaetome of legs (without tarsi): I 1–3 –5(2)–5(1), II 1–4 –3(1)–5(1), III 2–2 –2(1)–3(1), IV 2–1 –1(1)–2(1).
Material examined. Holotype: locality 4.
Comparison. The new species is most similar to Euphthiracarus (Euphthiracarus) takahashii Aoki, 1980 (b) by the presence of two pairs of prodorsal lateral carinae, shape and length of setae of prodorsum, genitoaggenital and anoadanal plates. It is distinguishable by the absence of alveoli on the surface of body, heterotrichy of notogastral setae (versus similar shape and length of notogastral setae), position of prodorsal setae, lamellar nearer to rostral than to interlamellar setae (versus lamellar setae almost in the middle between rostral and interlamellar setae), long exobothridial setae (versus minute exobothridial setae).
Etymology. Latin quasi meaning “near” and refers to the similarity of the new species to Euphthiracarus (Euphthiracarus) takahashii Aoki, 1980 .
