NOTES: Teuchophorus View in CoL has been recorded from all realms except the Neotropical. The number of species is low in the Holarctic but numerous species have been described from Papua New Guinea ( Meuffels & Grootaert, 1986). Species of this genus are hygrophilous and, like Sympycnus View in CoL , occur in rather shaded conditions where they can be found, sometimes in large numbers, on muddy soils.
