The genus Colpodaspis with type species C. pusilla was introduced by M. Sars (1870). Later Brown (1979) described a new species C. thompsoni , and these are the only representatives of the genus. Both species have a thin internal globose shell with depressed or slightly protruding spire and wide aperture. The head is short with rolled up tentacles and visible eyes. The mantle forms an exhalant siphon. Operculum is absent. The foot is large, anteriorly lobed and possesses a longitudinal median furrow on the sole. The external autospermal tract is ciliated, penial armature is absent.
