Type Locality: Dem. Rep. Congo, Kivu, Mt Kahuzi, 2100 m .

Vernacular Names: Mt Kahuzi African Climbing Mouse.

Distribution: Kivu region, E Dem. Rep. Congo.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: A distinctive species with an extremely long tail, broad middorsal stripe, and long gracile rostrum. Still known by few specimens from montane forest-bamboo habitat ( Dieterlen, 1969 a, 1976 c).
