The otoliths of all investigated Aphanius anatoliae specimens display a more or less Vshaped ostium and a straight cauda, which in some otoliths may slightly curve downwards (ventrally) at its end. The posterior end of the cauda may be open and is then indistinct, or it is rounded or pointed. Most of the otoliths display a cauda terminating some distance from the posterior rim, but several otoliths from Lake Eğirdir/Eğirdir and all otoliths of A. anatoliae transgrediens reveal a cauda that almost reaches the posterior rim. The sulcus is mostly provided with some colliculi of small or middle size.
