Diagnosis. Colour blue-green to green or with brassy tint to dark blue; antennae reaching to or beyond posterior angles of pronotum when laid alongside in male, to just beyond middle in female; smooth areas or pronotum variably raised; elytra with or without costae; male genitalia elongate, swollen at base, slender toward apex (®gure 33).
Comparisons. This species is most similar to G. insularis (Helfer) and G. fulgidus (Barr) under each of which it is compared.
This species is polytypic, separating into three subspeci®c populations.
