Yponomeuta madagascariensis Gershenson, 2003: 93–95 .

Type locality: Madagascar: Antisabe .

Description of adult ( Plate 5 View PLATE 5 ). (copied from the original description)

Wingspan 18 mm. Head, palpus, antenna and thorax white. Thorax with five black dots, and one on each tegula. Forewing and its fringe white with 17 black dots arranged in the irregular rows, wing apex with three small dots. Hindwing grey with white fringe.

Male genitalia, Unknown.

Female genitalia ( Plate 25 View PLATE 25 ). “Membranous folds between papillae anales with small denticles. Intersegmental sclerite well expressed. Apophyses posteriores somewhat shorter than apophyses anteriores and less than twice as long as common stem of the latter. Dorsal branch of apophyses anteriores less than 2.5 times shorter than apophyses posteriores.’’

Diagnosis. Distinguished by the white forewing with less pronounced spots than in strigillata or other species.

Biology. Not known.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Madagascar.

Type material. Holotype ♀ in Zoological Museum , Kiev, Ukraine.

Note. Since only a single female is known it is difficult to know with which other species it shares similarities and cannot be placed reliably until more material is available for study.
