Diagnosis. Oreta griseotincta is close to O. carnea (Sundaland) on both external and genital characters, and is difficult to distinguish. The forewing apex is more elongate and hooked in O. griseotincta . The male genitalia of the two species share the following characters: the uncus and socii are very small, well sclerotized, the former slightly swollen, and the latter roundly expanded; the median process of the gnathos is strongly developed, rhombic; the valva is slender; the sacculus is also slender but shorter than the valva; the saccus is well developed; the aedeagus is bent and U-shaped. In O. griseotincta , the uncus together with the socii is broader than in O. carnea ; the median process of the gnathos is broader; the sacculus is narrower and round distally in this species, but broad and flat in O. carnea . In the female genitalia, the sclerotization of the area surrounding the ostium is more complex than in O. carnea .
Distribution. China ( Taiwan, Hainan, Hong Kong, Yunnan), India, Malaysia, Singapore.
Remarks. The nominate subspecies is distributed in China and India, and O. griseotincta acutior , with the gnathos and the valva narrower, is distributed in Malaysia and Singapore.
