Hueikaeana andreji sp. n.

Fig. 1H, 2F, 3M, 4G, 6F–H, 9B

Holotype (male). East Malaysia, Sabah: Sorinsim, 26.ii.1997 (tree nr. 4), 6°19'N, 116°44'E, leg. A. Floren, depository: Museum Koenig Bonn ( ZFMK) [fogged specimen; dried after storage in alcohol; photographs shot during storage in alcohol].

Diagnosis. The new species is very similar to Hueikaeana ornata Gorochov, 2008 . It mainly differs by the shape of the male subgenital plate that is comparatively wider and shorter forming on dorsal side only a shallow groove; the narrow central area is shorter than in H. ornata and the apical lobes wide and deviating instead of pointing apicad.

Description. Fastigium verticis furrowed at base, vertically descending to tuberculate tip; separated from fastigium frontis by a shallow depression (Fig. 1H). Fastigium frontis narrow triangular; apex subobtuse. Disc of pronotum constricted between first and second transverse sulcus; with anterior margin concave, posterior margin slightly convex. Tegmen moderately broad; apex obliquely truncate (Fig. 2F).

Male. Stridulatory area of tegmen about oval, rather small, stridulatory vein wide and strongly bulging, its width nearly one quarter the length of the stridulatory area; behind stridulatory area with a cleft between both tegmina (Fig. 3M). Stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen broad and straight, before apex tapering, 1.12 mm long; with 91 teeth, equating 81 teeth per mm; in middle to apical area with 8.1 teeth per 0.1 mm (Fig. 4G). Mirror on right tegmen roughly oval with anterior margin faintly sinuate; 1.21 mm long, 1.04 mm wide; index length: width 1.16 (Fig. 3M). Second abdominal tergite with dorsal area prolonged behind; apex rounded, covering about half of third tergite. Dorsal surface of second tergite shallowly grooved and densely covered by long hairs (Fig. 9B). [There are some traces of a brown substance sticking to the hairs. As the specimen has been kept in alcohol, the greater part may have been washed off.] Tenth abdominal tergite with apical margin truncate. Epiproct tongueshaped (Fig. 6H). Cerci moderately curved, shorter than subgenital plate; at apex little swollen and with a large subacute tooth (Fig. 6F). Subgenital plate in about basal third moderately wide, in central area narrow, in about apical third widening and divided into two narrow, diverging projections (Fig. 9G). Phallus membranous (Figs. 9F, H).

Female unknown.

Coloration. Yellowish (probably green when alive). Antennae with spaced dark brown annulation. Vertex with brown band behind compound eyes. Disc of pronotum in basal third to half with triangular brown spot widening anteriorly and embracing a white spot at both anterior angles. Tegmen green; stridulatory area before stridulatory vein white, behind brown with light veinlets; along posterior margin with three piles of brown flecks [consisting of the filled brown cells between the light veinlets] arranged around three brown strokes at the hind margin; the distal pile extended to the midline of tegmen; similar marks on projecting part of hind wings; anterior margin of tegmen in apical third brown; a brown band runs from anterior part of stridulatory area to fore margin of tegmen. Abdominal tergites 3–7 white, 5–7 with brown ventro-lateral margin; tergites 8–9 only in central area white. Apex of subgenital plate partly darkened. All legs in genicular areas of femur and tibia with brown strokes; fore and mid tibiae also with brown strokes in apical area, hind tibiae in middle and in apical areas with brown strokes. Tarsal segments 1–3 laterally brown.

Etymology. Named in honour of Dr. Andrej Gorochov for his significant contributions on the Orthoptera fauna of South East Asia.

Measurements (1 male). Body w/wings: 26; body w/o wings: 15; pronotum: 3.9; tegmen: 16.5; hind wing: 22; hind femur: 10.7 mm.
