Hueikaeana quadrimaculata sp. n.
Fig. 1E, 2G, 3N–O, 4E–F, 5J–L, 8F–G
Holotype (male). East Malaysia, Sabah: Mt. Kinabalu, Mesilau [6°10'N, 116°39'E], 10.ii.1964, leg. J. Smart, Royal Soc. Exped., depository: The Natural History Museum London ( BMNH).
Diagnosis. The new species is unique for the colour pattern of the pronotum, provided with four black marks (Fig. 2G). The male tegmen is distinctly widened but not as strongly as in other Hueikaeana species described so far. The male cerci and subgenital plate and the pattern of tegminal coloration show some remote similarity to those of Hueikaeana ornata Gorochov, 2008 . It differs however by the completely straight and very sharp apical tooth of the cerci, the central part of the subgenital plate being less prolonged and terminating into two acute triangular lobes, the tegmen is less widened and has the subcosta and radius only weakly not strongly curved in middle, it carries six instead of four oblique bands of black dots (Fig. 2G). The swelling of the second abdominal tergite resembles the situation in D. protecta sp. n. and D. pulchra Gorochov, 2008 . From both, it differs however strikingly by the male abdominalia as well as shape and pattern of the tegmina.
Description. Fastigium verticis furrowed, steeply descending anteriorly; at tip little projecting but not upcurved (Fig. 1E). Pronotum with anterior margin little wide-triangularly excised; apical margin rounded; posterior area with medial carina; disc with angles rounded; paranota as long as high; humeral sinus distinct. Tegmen rather broad with obliquely subtruncate apex (Fig. 2G).
Male. Tegmen nearly without dorsal area except for shortened stridulatory area (Fig. 3N). Stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen strongly concave; 0.70 mm long; teeth extremely dense throughout; with about 176 teeth, equating 250 teeth per mm (Figs. 4E–F). Mirror on right tegmen in anterior area deeply depressed; 1.42 mm long, 1.39 mm wide; index length: width 1.02 (Fig. 3O). Second abdominal tergite prolonged behind and with dorsal swelling (Figs. 8F–G). Third and fourth abdominal tergites also little prolonged behind in middle. Tenth abdominal tergite furrowed in midline. Epiproct roughly circular (Fig. 5L). Cerci reaching about apex of subgenital plate; little curved and with approaching margins; apex with acute internal tooth (Fig. 5J). Subgenital plate with central area prolonged; split from apex for little less than apical third into two narrow, triangular, deviating, and little curved lobes (Fig. 5K). Phallus membranous.
Female unknown.
Coloration. Yellowish brown; probably green when alive. Scapus and pedicellus with black band on dorsal surface; flagellum annulated. Pronotum with four black spots, two at anterior and two at posterior margin. Abdomen with membranous dorsal area of first and anterior part of dorsal area of second segment pale; tergites seven to ten with dark brown lateral areas; seventh tergite with large white spot included in dark area. Fifth abdominal sternite white, the following including subgenital plate dark brown, of which sixth and seventh sternite with white base. Tegmen yellowish brown [alive probably green] with hind margin and indistinct oblique bands running from hind margin dark brown; latter of increasing length from base to subapical area. Fore femur with oblique black stroke in distal half on inner side and another in genicular area. Fore tibia with tympanal and apical areas infumated and with narrow black strokes. Hind femur in genicular area with black strokes. Hind tibia in middle and at apex infumated. Third segment of anterior tarsus and all of hind tarsus darkened.
Etymology. From Latin quattuor four and macula spot; refers to the four black marks on the pronotum.
Measurements (1 male). Body w/wings: 32; body w/o wings: 15; pronotum: 3.8; tegmen: 23; hind wing: 27.5; hind femur: 12.5 mm.
