Anomala aeneotincta Fairmaire

Anomala aeneotincta Fairmaire, 1883: 7 . Carne 1958: 172; Cassis & Weir 1992: 363.

Diagnosis. Anomala aeneotincta is distinguished from the remaining Australia Anomala species by the combination of the following characters: clypeus hardly reflexed along anterior margin ( Fig. 3H ); protibia with single tooth along external margin ( Fig. 3E ); pronotum with marginal bead at base incomplete medially ( Fig. 4B ) and with lighter, pale yellow lateral margins ( Fig. 4G ); pygidium dark brown with two longitudinal yellow stripes ( Fig. 4F ); phallobase about as long as the parameres with broad well-sclerotised ventral plate ( Fig 3F, G ).

Material examined. New Britain: Rabaul (3, ANIC).

Distribution. New Britain, Papua New Guinea, Australia.

Notes: Carne (1958) records A. aeneotincta from Gordonvale (QLD) and Moore River (WA) but we have not been able to locate these specimens. We have seen old specimens without date from Redlynch, York Peninsula and W. Australia (without locality) that agree with the type description and will key out to this species, but are consistently larger and greener than the specimens from the type locality New Britain.
