This cosmopolitan species was described from Czech Republic and is commonly known as dandelion flower thrips (zur Strassen 2000; Mound et al. 2021). Individuals of T. frici View in CoL can be distinguished from the closely related species T. discolor View in CoL by brown to dark brown body and CPS on metanotum absent, in contrast to yellow body andCPS present in T. discolor View in CoL .
