Holotype. Male. Pubescence white-yellowish. Integument light brown mainly in dorsal region of body. Integument dark brown: apex of mandibles, apex of antennomeres, ventral region of thorax and abdomen, coxae, ventral region of posterior half of femora, base and posterior 1/3 of tibiae, apex of tarsomere I and all others tarsomeres. Antennal tubercles proeminent and with smalls glabrum areas in posterior region. Width of upper ocular lobe subequal to width of antennal tubercles, space between them approximately equal to width of an upper ocular lobe. Antennae reaching elytral apices in VII antennomere. Scape subequal in length to antennomere III; antennomere III with equal length of IV; remaining antennomeres gradually shorter. Prothorax length about 2/3 of its width; lateral median tubercle round and flattened. Anterior pronotum region with two high tubercles and row of punctures on posterior margin. Prosternal and mesosternal process flat, with elevated edges. Width of prosternal process approximately 1/4 diameter of a procoxal cavity. Width of mesosternal process approximately 1/5 diameter of a mesocoxal cavity. Metasternal suture reaching apex of anterior metasternal projection. Scutellum rounded at apex. Elytra with subparallel sides at anterior 2/3; length approximately 3.5 times length of prothorax; centro-basal region with prominence ridges and erect bristles blackened at apex. Elytral apices obliquely truncated with external spine and spicule in sutural angle. Metatarsomere I as long as following segments added together. Fifth sternite approximately 1.5 longer than fourth, subtrapezoidal and notched.
Measurements, in mm. Holotype male, total length, 7.2; prothoracic length, 1.4; prothorax greater width 2.0; elytral length, 5.2; humeral width, 2.7.
Etymology. The name is a reference to the absence of maculae on the pronotum and elytra.

Remarks. The genus Lathroeus Thomson, 1864 was created to allocate Lathroeus oreoderoides Thomson, 1864 . Lathroeus oreoderoides was described from a single specimen, and the author did not indicate the type locality. Recently, a second specimen was collected in Bolivia ( Wappes et al. 2013). Melzer (1932) described the second species of the genus, Lathroeus mysticus Melzer, 1932 from Brazil. Monné (2001), published a synopsis of the genus, providing an identification key to the species.
Lathroeus immaculatus sp. nov. resembles L. mysticus by the dimensions of the body, but differs mainly by the centro-basal proeminence of the elytra, that in the new species have blackish and erect bristles on it ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 3 – 7 ), whereas in L. mysticus such bristles are missing. Furthermore, Lathroeus immaculatus sp. nov. can be easily distinguished from both species of the genus by the absence of dark maculae on the prothorax and elytra.
