Type locality. Mata do Utinga , Belém, Pará, Brazil.
Bionomics. Females of this species have been collected biting humans, a rooster and an opossum ( Guimarães et al. 1987; Talaga et al. 2015), mostly (91%) in the canopy ( Guimarães et al. 1985) in the Atlantic Forest.
Arbovirus infection records. This species has been found naturally infected with St. Louis, Tucunduba, Sororoca and Wyeomyia viruses in Brazil ( Hérve et al. 1986; Pinheiro et al. 1981).
Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Amapá, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul; Rondônia and São Paulo ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942; Lane 1953; Forattini et al. 1968, 1986a, 1986b, 1973; Pinheiro et al. 1981; Guimarães & Arlé 1984; Guimarães et al. 1985; Guimarães & Victório1986; Guimarães et al. 1987, 2000 a, 2000b; Dégallier et al. 1998; Hutchings et al. 2005, 2011; Pinto et al. 2009; Gomes et al. 2010; Alencar et al. 2011; Moreno et al. 2011; Confalonieri & Costa Neto 2012; Abreu et al. 2019).
Occurrence in other countries. Colombia and Peru ( Wilkerson et al. 2021).
