Type locality. Manaus-Caracaraí road (BR-17), Km 23, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.
Bionomics. Males and females of Sa. forattinii have been captured with an entomological net during human landing collections inside tall and shaded forest, between 08:00 and 15:00 ( Cerqueira 1961). Immature stages occur in tree holes and bamboo internodes, usually with small holes ( Forattini & Toda 1967). In the present study, immature stages were collected in a tree hole with a narrow opening and in a bamboo trap with a single hole of 1.5 cm diameter ( Coleção de Culicidae 2023).

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Pará and Rio de Janeiro * ( Forattini & Toda 1967; Fé et al. 2003; Pinto et al. 2009; Confalonieri & Costa Neto 2012; Stanzani et al. 2023).
