Note: Verdcourt (in Hubbard & Milne-Redhead, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Convolvulaceae : 114. 1963) and later authors treated the post-1753 218.12 (LINN) as lectotype, but this choice was rejected by Biju in favour of original material in S.
