4. Carebara dux HNS . B.M.
Female. Length 10 1/4 lines. - Black: the thorax and abdomen shining; the head closely and strongly punctured; the antennae, mandibles and anterior margin of the clypeus ferruginous; the mandibles punctate-striate, with four stout acute teeth at their inner margin. Thorax: the disk with distant punctures; two impressed Unes on the mesothorax anteriorly, in the centre, which unite and terminate in the middle of the disk, and a line on each side extending to the posterior margin, the wings brown, the posterior pair and apex of the anterior wings palest, the ner- vures ferruginous; the legs dark fusco-ferruginous, with the tarsi palest. Abdomen large, much wider than the thorax, finely and sparingly punctured, the base of the second and third segments impunctate, the apical margins of the segments obscurely rufo- piceous; the nodes of the petiole incrassate, the upper surface of the second node inclined obliquely forwards.
