Description. Holotype female. Head mostly dark brown. Clypeus, labrum, gulamentum and mouthparts yellowish orange. Mandibles orange on anterior half, brown toward apex. Scape, pedicel and antennomere III reddish brown on anterior half, brown on remaining surface; antennomeres IV-XI yellowish orange, with dark brown apex (dark area of last antennomeres lighter). Prothorax dark brown dorsally and laterally (almost black dorsally), orange ventrally. Ventral surface of meso- and metathorax orange on wide central area, dark brown on mesanepisternum, mesepimeron and metanepisternum. Elytra dark brown, almost black, reddish-brown on apex, and with irregular, large orangish-brown macula on anterior half close to suture, not reaching inclined area, from apex of anterior eight to middle. Coxae and trochanter yellowish orange; basal half of femora pale yellow, distal half dark brown; tibiae with pale yellow ring on anterior half near base, remaining surface dark brown; tarsi dark brown except base of meso- and metatarsomere I yellowish orange. Abdominal ventrites yellowish orange, except V dark brown laterally.
Head. Frons transverse, minutely, densely punctate; with yellowish pubescence not obscuring integument, slightly denser laterally; with one long, erect dark seta on each side near eye. Vertex finely, densely punctate; with dark brown pubescence not obscuring integument, except yellowish-brown pubescence centrally and surrounding eyes. Antennal tubercles with dark brown pubescence basally, yellowish toward apex. Area behind upper eye lobes with pubescence as on vertex. Genae smooth, with yellowish pubescence not obscuring integument. Postclypeus with yellowish pubescence on wide central area; with one long, erect dark seta on each side of wide central area. Labrum coplanar with anteclypeus, slightly inclined at anterior third; with sparse yellowish pubescence interspersed with long, both brownish and golden setae directed forward. Gulamentum smooth, glabrous on wide posterior area, with short, sparse yellowish pubescence anteriorly. Mandibles with two long, brownish setae laterobasally. Distance between upper eye lobes 0.28 times length of scape; in frontal view, distance between lower eye lobes 0.66 times length of scape. Antennae 2.25 times elytral length, reaching elytral apex near apex of antennomere VI; scape moderately abruptly constrained apically; scape, pedicel and antennomeres with brownish pubescence not obscuring integument, with yellowish pubescence interspersed (paler on scape); antennomeres III–V with erect, dark, thick setae ventrally. Antennal formula (ratio) based on length of antennomere III: scape = 1.02; pedicel = 0.11; IV = 0.96; V = 0.85; VI = 0.78; VII = 0.72; VIII = 0.75; IX = 0.78; X = 0.83; XI = 0.80.
Thorax. Prothorax with large, conical tubercle in posterior third, with apex slightly projected backward; with its anterior area as gradual continuation of margin; sides gradually divergent from anterior margin to apex of lateral tubercle, strongly constricted behind lateral tubercles. Pronotum with row of coarse, deep punctures near posterior margin, fine, sparse punctate on remaining surface, except smooth central area; with light yellowishbrown pubescence on central area, forming Y-shaped band fused with slightly arched transverse band near posterior margin, surrounded by dark brown pubescence; sides with yellowish-brown pubescence (inner margin of this area sinuous) except oblique, elongated dark brown macula on each side about middle. Sides and ventral surface of prothorax with yellowish pubescence; prosternal process extremely narrowed centrally; mesoventral process gradually narrowed toward its posterior third, with its narrowest area about as wide as 1/6 of mesocoxal cavity. Scutellum with dark brown pubescence, except yellowish-brown pubescent spot centrobasally. Elytra. Parallelsided from humerus to posterior third, then gradually narrowed toward apex; centrobasal area slightly elevated, coarsely, moderately abundantly punctate on anterior half, gradually sparsely punctate on posterior half: with sparse brownish pubescence, mottled with moderately small, irregular, dense yellowish-brown pubescent spots, except large lighter area on anterior half with somewhat dense yellowish-brown pubescence; apex with moderately long spine at outer angle. Legs. Pro- and mesofemora pedunculate-clavate (club noticeably large); metafemora slightly pedunculate-clavate, club larger than in pro- and mesofemora; meso- and metafemora slightly arched from anterior quarter. Coxae, trochanter and femora with yellowish pubescence. Protibiae with tab-shaped projection ventrally, less distinct from midlength, with yellowish-brown pubescence, dark brown on posterior half; mesotibiae with tab-shaped projection dorsally on posterior third, with yellowish-brown pubescence, dark brown apicodorsally; metatibia with yellowish-brown pubescence. Metatarsomere I about 1.5 times length of II-III together; tarsi with yellowish-brown pubescence; tarsomere V with a few long dark setae apically.
Abdomen. Ventrites with yellowish pubescence, slightly more abundant on sides of I-IV; apex of ventrite V truncate, with long, erect, dark brownish setae.
Dimensions (mm). Holotype female. Total length, 6.80; prothoracic length, 1.05; anterior prothoracic width, 1.35; posterior prothoracic width, 1.25; maximum prothoracic width (between apex of lateral tubercles), 1.80; humeral width, 2.10; elytral length, 4.80.
Type material. Holotype female labeled. “ MEXICO: Oaxaca, San Miguel Chimalapa, San Antonio, Camino al mirador, 25-Julio-2017, 16.6641° N, - 94.2345° W, 1760msnm, luz aditivos metálicos, 12AM, bosque mesófilo de montaña, O. Pérez col.” GoogleMaps
Etymology. The specific name luteomaculatus is composed from the Latin “luteus” (yellow; saffron yellow) and “maculatus” (spotted), referring to yellowish pubescent maculae on elytra. The compound specific epithet is a noun in apposition.
Remarks. Urgleptes luteomaculatus sp. nov. resembles U. bimaculatus Gilmour, 1960 , but differs as follows: central pubescent band of the pronotum Y-shaped, not widened posteriorly; anterocentral area of the pronotum lacking yellowish pubescence; transverse posterior pubescent band of the pronotum not fused with lateral pubescent bands. In U. bimaculatus , the central pubescent band of the pronotum is not Y-shaped and is distinctly widened toward its posterior area, anterocentral area of pronotum with yellowish pubescence, and transverse posterior pubescent band of the pronotum fused with lateral pubescent bands.
