Genus Porphyronota Burmeister, 1842

The genus was revised by Holm (1990b) who recognized ten valid species and five subspecies. Beinhundner (2017a) elevated some subspecies to the species level and three species were described after revision (e.g. see Rigout & Allard 1992, Antoine 1999, 2004a), given a total of eighteen species in the genus ( Beinhundner 2017a). Four species/subspecies were recorded for Angola ( Paulino de Oliveira 1882, Ferreira 1965, Beinhundner 2017a).
