Distribution. South China Sea; Fiji and Tonga; Moro Gulf off Zamboanga; Moluccas off W coast of Halmahera; Philippines; Indonesia; New Caledonia; Chesterfield Islands; Kei Islands; Arafura Sea; off Central Queensland; Wallis Islands; Vanuatu; SW Australia.
Remarks. The specimens agree basically with the descriptions and illustrations of Baba (1988, 2005) except the presence of a pair of anterior branchial spines on the carapace while there is no anterior branchial spine in the type. The following characters can be used to distinguish this species from those of the similar genus Munida : antennular basal article has no lateral spine proximal to distolateral spine; antennal peduncle is slender and articles 1 and 2 are spineless.
