status

Champsosaurus sp.

Four species of Champsosaurus were described by Cope (1 876b) on the basis of isolated vertebrae from the Judith River Formation. As it is impossible to specifically distinguish among any of Cope's species, the material recently collected from the formation will be identified only to genus. Specimens from the Oldman Formation are more complete and have been referred to three species, C. natator , C. inelegans , and C. infiatus ( Russell, 1964, p. 12) .
