Baccha dracula Hull, 1943 View in CoL — Hull, 1943c: 52. Type locality: Honduras. Holotype male CNC. Hull, 1949a: 152 (redescription), 232 (fig. 205, abdomen).
Ocyptamus dracula View in CoL . Thompson et al., 1976: 17 (catalog citation).
Male. Head: Black. Face pale on lateral ¼ to 1/5. Lunule pale above antennal insertion, central macula distinct and connected to frontal triangle color by narrow vitta, connection sometimes weak. Frontal triangle with silvery-white pollen continuous from face and restricted to lateral margin, brown-pollinose medially. Vertical triangle with 3 rows of pile, but most pile concentrated in a single median row; ocellar triangle ~1.5 times its length from posterior eye margin. Eye contiguity as long as vertical triangle length. Eye with sub-triangular indentation on posterior margin positioned at level of the antenna insertion. Antennal insertions confluent, ventral margin with short dorsal extension. Dorsal ¼ of occiput with posterior row of white scale-like pile and anterior row of slightly shorter simple black pile; middle ½ with 3–4 rows of scale-like white pile, posterior row longer, anterior rows sometimes with some simple black pile dorsally; ventral ¼ with 3 irregular rows of scale-like white pile.
Thorax: Scutum black, mainly dull pollinose, except white on notopleuron and on a pair of sub-median inconspicuous vittae; scutum black pilose, pile longer on notopleuron, and with anterior uninterrupted row of scalelike white pile. Scutellum black, black pilose, pile longer on apical margin, subscutellar fringe pile long and white, sometimes with some black pile laterally. Pleuron black and with white pile, except pile sometimes black on anterior anepimeron, and a few dorso-posteriorly on posterior anepisternum. Plumula long and white. Calypter white. Halter stem brown, capitulum yellow.
Wing: Hyaline with anterior margin darker (cells bc, c, sc, basal ½ to ⅔ of r and diffusely dark on basal ½ of r1), entirely microtrichose; alula large, basally 1.7 times to apically 4 times as broad as c cell, hyaline, entirely microtrichose.
Legs: Proleg brown, apex of profemur and apex and basal ½ of protibia pale. Mesoleg dark brown, apex of mesofemur and basal ⅔ of mesotibia pale. Metaleg dark brown, basal 1/5 of metatibia and apical ⅓ of metabasitarsomere to 3rd metatarsomere pale, 4th metatarsomere light brown, 5th metatarsomere brown; metacoxa and metatrochanters mainly white pilose.
Abdomen: Black; 2.6 times as long as thorax. First tergite black pilose dorsally, white pilose ventrally. Second tergite rectangular and long, length 1.5 times minimum width, with central large arcuate fascia of dull black pollen; 2nd tergite black pilose except white basally and on baso-lateral ⅔, pile appressed, except erect basally and laterally. Third tergite trapezoidal, length 1.25 times minimum width, sometimes slightly lightened on baso-lateral ½; 3rd tergite with large central triangular region of dull black pollen, and mostly with appressed and black pile, except pile longer, erect and white baso-laterally. Fourth tergite rectangular and wide; with central triangular region of dull black pollen, and with appressed and black pile, except white on baso-lateral corners. Fifth tergite rectangular and wide, with 3 central vittae of dull black pollen, and mainly with appressed and black pile, except white basolaterally. Genitalia: Cercus with 1–2 irregular rows of pile on medial margin and 3 irregular rows on lateral margin. Surstylus oval in lateral view, directed ventrally, with setulae (around 15) ventrally on apical ⅓, pilose on basal ⅔ of the dorsal surface. Subepandrial sclerite lateral margin well sclerotized with concave posterior margin and anterior notch. Hypandrium with notch extending to anterior ⅔, with few pile ventro-apically. Phallapodeme ½ the length of the hypandrium, mostly weakly sclerotized. Basiphallus with posterior apex strongly curved posteriorly; distiphallus with anterior surface slightly curved posteriorly. Postgonite with ventral surface slightly concave, dorsal surface straight; postgonite apex slightly convex with acute dorsal and ventral extremity and lateral ridge.
Female. Like male except: Face pale on lateral ⅓. Frons sometimes slightly lightened on latero-ventral 2/5. Ocellar triangle ~2.5 times its length from posterior eye margin and ~1 ocellus-width from lateral eye margin. Anterior anepimeron mainly white pilose, with very few black pile. First tergite mainly white pilose with less black pile dorsally. Second tergite sub-quadrate long, with triangular central region of dull black pollen. Third tergite shorter, and median dull black pollinose fascia with anterior notch and posterior small projection. Fourth tergite dull black pollen as on 3rd. Sixth segment divided into tergite and sternite, short, as long as 5th. Genitalia: 7th tergite trapezoidal, with some pile only on apical ⅓; basal extensions ½ the length of the 6th segment; 7th segment lateral sclerite narrow, with weak baso-ventral extensions. Eighth tergite long, with short baso-median notch and pair of well sclerotized apices, basal crest inconspicuous; 8th sternite divided into 2 long rectangular sclerites. Tenth tergite reduced to a pair of short sclerites, not fused to cerci. Cercus oval, slightly tapering basally and curving towards 10th tergite, pile present only in 2 irregular rows on apical margin and becoming sparse on apicoventral ½.
Length. 8–12mm; wing 6.5–9mm.
Distribution. Costa Rica (Puntarenas), Guatemala (Cortés), Honduras (Colón), Mexico (Morelos, Quintana Roo), Peru (Huanuco, Junín).

Comments. The external morphology of this species is very similar to P. alucard , but P. dracula has an oval surstylus, a slightly curved distiphallus and a longer postgonite with dorsal and ventral apical extremities and a lateral ridge on its apex.
