Pelecinobaccha brevipennis species group
Pelecinobaccha brevipennis species group (type species Baccha brevipennis Schiner, 1868 View in CoL ).
Included species. P. aster ( Curran, 1941) , P. brevipennis ( Schiner, 1868) View in CoL , P. cyclops ( Hull, 1947b) , P. gracilitas View in CoL Miranda sp. nov., P. invisibilis View in CoL Miranda sp. nov., P. levissima ( Austen, 1893) , P. portachueloi View in CoL Miranda sp. nov., P. vera ( Hull, 1943a) , P. vesca View in CoL Miranda sp. nov.
Diagnosis/comments. Members of this species group resemble species of the Ocyptamus stenogaster species group (Miranda 2011; Thompson 1981) in having very long and narrow 2nd and 3rd abdominal segments, having similar markings on the abdominal tergites and (usually) lacking an alula. Species of the P. brevipennis group have very different male genitalia from the O. stenogaster group, and their modified female genitalia are typical of Pelecinobaccha species.
