Diagnosis: This species is similar to H. littoralis in its tegmina often with large dark spots; hind tibia with 14– 17 external and 11–13 internal spines but can be distinguished easily by male subgenital short, not attenuate, apex very obtuse or even roundly truncate; size large.

Habitats: The main habitat of this species appears to be semi-desert zone where it occurs in oases.

Material examined: Al Shati region: Brack , 5 ♂, 3 ♀, on alfalfa & egg plant, 15.vii.1995 ; Qattah , 4 ♂, 2 ♀, on grass & vegetable, 30.vi.1996 . Ghat region: Al Barakat , 2 ♂, 2 ♀, on alfalfa & vegetable, 20.vii.1995 .

Localities: Cyrenaica: Augila, Bengasi, Gialo, Giarabub, Haret El Hafun (Cufra), Oasi di Talab , Porto- Bardia; Tripolitania: Tripoli; Fezzan: Brack, El Barakat, GebelSoda,Qattah .

Distribution: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Hoggar, Sahar, Morocco, Tunisia, Mouretania, Sudan, Nigeria, Chad.

Remarks: This species is found in semi-desert zone and in oases. This species has been reported from different parts of Libya by Werner (1932), Ghigi (1915), Salfi (1935a) and Capra (1929).
