Now: Sicalis luteola luteiventris ( Meyen, 1834a) . See Hellmayr (1938: 329).
Holotype: ZMB 6169 View Materials ( Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 35, 36, 37 or 38 sub “ Fringilla ”), skin, collected by Meyen in “ Februar ” or “ Maerz ” [= 12 Apr 1831; see Meyen 1835: 14] in “ Chile ” [= Apo, Peru; see below].
Type locality. “ In der Gegend des Altos de Toledo, bei Api [sic] u.s.w., stets über die Höhe von 13 und 15,000 Fuss hinaus, haben wir ihn gesehen.” (“ We observed it in the area of Altos de Toledo, near Api etc., always at an elevation of over 13 and 15,000 feet.”) according to Meyen (1834a: 87). In his travel report, Meyen (1835: 14) specified that he met this bird at Apo. We thus ascertain the type locality as Apo, Arequipa Region, Peru [16.20°S, 71.22°W] GoogleMaps .
