Matacarus demrei ( Kepka, 1962) , comb. nov.
Odontacarus (Acomatacarus) demrei Kepka, 1962: 281 , figs. 8–11.
Diagnosis. SIF = 6B-B-3-2111.1000; fsp = 6.6.6; fPp = B/N/BNN; fCx = 2.1.1; fSt = 0.2; fSc: PL> AL> AM; Ip =?; fD = 2H-6-6-7(8)-7(8)-6(8)-6-4-2(3); DS = 47–50; VS = 27–31; NDV = 77–78. Scutal and dorsal idiosomal setae lanceolate, sensilla branched, eyes 2 + 2. Measurements of holotype ( Kepka 1962): AW 51, PW 61, SB 23, ASB 29, PSB 15, SD 44, AP 22, AM 22, AL 27, PL 35, S 48.
Type material (not examined). Holotype is deposited in IZUG; type locality is Demre in Turkey (Antalya Prov.).
Host. Ophisops elegans Ménétriés.
Distribution. Turkey.
Remarks. This species is closely related to Matacarus agamae described from Morocco and differs from it in having lanceolate scutal and dorsal idiosomal setae, fPp = B/N/BNN vs. B/B/BB(N)B, and in slightly lesser NDV (77–78 vs. 86). Though the numbers of setae on leg femora I–III (the main diagnostic character of Matacarus ) are unknown in M. demrei , comb. nov., other characters indicate it is congeneric with M. agamae and M. crimeaensis .
