Type: INDONESIA, New Guinea , [Papua province], 45 km inward of Nabire, Dallman, 500 m, 02.03.1940, R . Kanehira & S . Hatusima 12171 (holo FU, n.v.; iso A [ A00073474 ]) .
Distribution: Endemic to New Guinea ( Ohwi, 1943).
Note: A new name, M. nabirensis , is proposed here for M. pachyphylla Kaneh. & Hatus. ex Ohwi because the name of M. pachyphylla has already been used for a species from Madagascar ( Jumelle & Perrier de la Bâthie, 1913).
