Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition that refers to the type locality of the holotype.
Diagnosis. Males of S. maquine n.sp. resemble those of S. fusca Walckenaer by the palp with very simple bulb, distally narrowed and with no projections ( Figs. 137–138 View FIGURES 130 – 140. 130 – 135 ; Brescovit & Rheims 2000: 322, figs. 9–10). They are distinguished by the distal region slightly widened anteriorly and abruptly narrowed posteriorly ( Figs. 137–138 View FIGURES 130 – 140. 130 – 135 ). The females are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical Scytodes by the large, irregular spermathecae, adjacent to small, slightly oval hyaline pockets ( Fig. 140 View FIGURES 130 – 140. 130 – 135 ).
