Habitat.
Deeply (down to 40 cm) buried in soft mud at seaward fringes of mangrove forests or intertidal zones down to 3 m depth ( Huber 2015).
Distribution.
Indian Ocean; Indo-West Pacific, from Taiwan to Borneo Island ( Huber 2015). Records of fossils from the Holocene in Thailand ( Robba et al. 2002).
Record in Thailand.
Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea ( Wells et al. 2021).
Taxonomic remarks and comparisons.
Due to the large size and oblong-elliptical shape of shells ( Robba et al. 2002; Huber 2010), we identified these specimens as belonging to Cultellus maximus .
