Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 9 m depth, by Dean Tully on 7 July 2011; a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Persian Gulf east to Tuamotu Islands, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to Lord Howe Island and Rapa. Found on silt, mud or fine sand bottoms near coastal reefs, 1–30 m depth. Marine.
