Paracaesio xanthura (Bleeker 1869) —Yellowtail blue snapper

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group , Namatamai District by Fry et al. (2006: 130). Specimens photographed on 2 June 2013, second dive, during ACIAR Aquarium Survey at Kavieng.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2, 5.—General distribution: General distribution: East Africa east to Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found on seaward reef slopes, 20–150 m depth. Marine.
