Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 10 m depth by Dean Tully on 19 Sept. 2015.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Maldives east to Samoa and Palau, north to southern Japan, south to Queensland ( Australia). In aggregations in sheltered coastal reefs and lagoons, 6–50 m depth. Marine.
