Redescription. Male. Integument black, mostly covered with dense grayish-white pubescence except for black maculae, as follows: one median rounded spot near anterior margin (sometimes with additional spot on each side of median one, or with similar median spot near posterior margin); scutellum; spot on humeri; submedian transverse belt, entire or interrupted, three or four irregular spots on anterior half and similar number of spots on distal third. Antennae reaching elytral apices at basal half of antennomere VI. Prothorax with minute obtuse tubercle at beginning of basal third. Pronotum with single line of very minute punctures near posterior margin. Elytra obliquely or semicircularly emarginate, external angle projecting in acute spine. Punctures widely scattered, restricted to basal third. Urotergite V rounded at apex; urosternite V transversely emarginate. Metatarsomere I as long as II+III.

Female. Antennae reaching elytral apices at distal half of antennomere VI. Ovipositor projecting slightly beyond elytral apices, distal urotergite and urosternite transversely truncate at apex.

Measurements (mm), male/female. Total length, 4.9–6.5/5.8–6.3; prothorax length, 1.0–1.2/1.01–.2; prothorax width, 1.3–2.0/1.2–1.7; elytral length, 3.4–4.5/4.1–4.5; humeral width, 1.8–2.5/1.9–2.1.

Distribution. Mexico (Veracruz) to Panama, Venezuela (new country record), and Ecuador (new country record).

Comments. Bates (1881) listed N. decemguttata as a variety of N. calligramma . Later (1885), Bates described Nyssodrys decemguttata as a different species, because of the lateral spot of the elytra always small and distant from the margin, and because of the two submedian spots separate or nearly so, never blended into a broad fascia as in N. calligramma . All the characters concerning the dimensions and shape of the spots are highly variable in a species distributed from Mexico to Venezuela and Ecuador, I therefore propose the new synonymies above.
