Type Locality: USA, North Dakota, Williams Co., upper Missouri River near jct. with the Yellowstone, near Buford.

Vernacular Names: Olive-backed Pocket Mouse.

Subspecies Perognathus fasciatus subsp. callistus Osgood 1900

Distribution: Great Plains from SE Alberta, Saskatchewan, and SW Manitoba ( Canada) to NE Utah, S Colorado, and E South Dakota ( USA).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Revised by Williams and Genoways (1979). Reviewed by Manning and Jones (1988 a, Mammalian Species No. 303).
