Type Locality: No locality mentioned; restricted to Argentina, Tucumán, Tucumán, by Sanborn (1930).

Vernacular Names: Southern Three-banded Armadillo.

Synonyms: Tolypeutes apar (Desmarest 1822) ; Tolypeutes bicinctus (Grandidier and Neveu-Lemaire 1905) ; Tolypeutes brachyurus (G. Fischer 1814) ; Tolypeutes conurus I. Geoffroy 1847 ; Tolypeutes muriei Garrod 1878 ; Tolypeutes octodecimcinctus ( Molina 1782) ; Tolypeutes aparoides Gervais 1869 .

Distribution: E Bolivia and SW Brazil south through the Gran Chaco of Paraguay to Argentina (Buenos Aires).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
