Indumentum dense, white. Leaves not crowded at ends of twigs. Leaves obovate or obovate-oblanceolate, usually widest above the middle, shortly acuminate or rounded at apex, glabrescent (especially along midrib), and greenish and shiny on upper surface, white-tomentose beneath, thereforedistinctly discolorous. Catkins l |- 3 times as long as wide, more slender and lax-flowered than in 60, very elongate when ripe, pedunculate. Ovary ovoid, obtuse, sparsely tomentose, rather dull, style 0-8-1 - 5 mm, as long as ovary; stigma distinctly bifid. • Alps. Au Ga HeIt.
