Sect. Bistorta (Miller) DC. Perennial View in CoL herbs with short, stout rhizomes. Ochreae brown, not lacerate. Flowers in fairly dense terminal spikes. Perianth petaloid; stamens 6-8; styles 3, long and slender; nut trigonous.
