Stout perennial 60-120 cm. Leaves broadly lanceolate, 3-4 times as long as wide. Pedicels c. 1 | times as long as the valves, filiform. Valves 4-5-5 - 5 x 5 -5-6- 5 mm, slightly cordate at base, rounded at apex, entire, without tubercles. 2« = 60. Ruderal. N. Europe; U.S.S. R.; Pyrenees. Frequently recorded elsewhere in error for other species. Hybridizes freely with R. crispus and R. obtusifolius .
