Stems often branched, always with short deflexed hairs above, often scabrid below. Leaves undulate. Flowers 2 to 4 together in usually long-stalked dichasia; lowest pedicels up to twice as long as calyx; upper shorter. Calyx 9- 12 mm, subclavate in fruit, puberulent on veins, elsewhere scabrid, rarely glabrous. Carpophore 2-3- 5 mm, puberulent. Throughout the range of the species.
